Ricardo Leite studied cine-video and theatre at the Escola Superior Artística do Porto between 1998 and 2002. Organized and participated since 1999 in several Film Shows and Exhibitions, having participated in events in Europe, Morocco, Brazil, USA, Canada, and Cape Verde. Having worked mostly in the experimental genre since 2002, mainly in super 8 and 16mm, he ventured into the documentary genre with “Mazagão, a água que volta”, finished in 2011, supported by ICA and RTP. He was selected for participation in the 6th edition of the Berlinale Talent Campus, at the Berlin Film Festival, for his work developed in the area of experimental film cinema in 2008. In 2016 he carried out a residency at the most prestigious institution dedicated to experimental cinema, at LIFT – Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, in Canada, where he directed a film and gave a workshop dedicated to biodegradable processes in cinematographic film. His work in biodegradable film processing led him to new approaches to filmmaking that influenced a worldwide community. He is now finishing “Lucefece” and “The blue apples” two feature documentary films mainly shot on film.
